Shaq ok for Game 1 vs Knicks

Over the course of the last 10 days, I have listened to the callers on The Block PartyCeltics Late Night Show and Celtics Stuff Live, declare the Celtics doomed without our 39 year old center. Comments have shifted from when Shaq returns to if Shaq returns.Questions and doubts continue to be risen whether our aging center will have enough left in the tank (or the right leg) to allow him to contribute at all.
Today’s Boston Globe can put Celtics fans at ease. According to Danny Ainge, Shaquille O’Neal will return for game one of the opening series of the post season against the Knicks.
For the first time all season, the Celtics will have both O’Neals healthy and playing.
“We’re planning as of right now on him practicing Thursday or Friday and being ready for Game 1 of the playoffs,’’ Ainge said. “I have every confidence that he will be ready to play in the playoffs.’’

…on Shaq’s return

The other O’Neal rebounded from a horrid affair with the Heat on Sunday. One day later, Jermaine looked find the fountain of youth. Despite the Celtics loss, J.O. logged nearly 37 minutes and tallied 15 point, 13 boards and 5 blocks. Jermaine’s ability to log big minutes with great productivity and no set-backs is the most encouraging news Celtics fans have gotten regarding their front line in weeks.
No word as to who will start the opening night of the playoffs if both O’Neal’s are in the line-up.
